Preserving Afro–Caribbean Music Through Art & Education

Yámbawa is a vibrant music project led by master percussionist Anthony Carrillo and pianist Amy Quint-Millan, blending Afro–Puerto Rican rhythms with jazz, salsa, and contemporary Latin styles. We're creating an original album and educational tools—including a Bongo Instructional Curriculum and companion book—to honor, preserve, and share underrepresented Afro–Caribbean musical traditions. Your support will fund album production, artist compensation, educational materials, and community programming. With fiscal sponsorship, all donations are tax-deductible. Help us keep these cultural rhythms alive and accessible for future generations through music, education, and community engagement. Let’s build this legacy together.

Be Part of the Music – Support Our Album & Learn from a Master!

We’re producing a one-of-a-kind album that celebrates rhythm, heritage, and collaboration—and we need your support to make it happen. Your contribution fuels the creative process and gives you access to exclusive rewards, including a private 1-on-1 lesson with legendary bongo master Anthony Carrillo. Hailed by Eddie Palmieri as “the best bongocero in the universe,” Carrillo has performed with icons like Paul Simon, Harry Belafonte, and Giovanni Hidalgo. In this personalized session, you'll dive deep into Afro–Puerto Rican rhythms, technique, and musical storytelling—directly from a living legend.

As part of our broader educational outreach, we’re also creating a Bongo Instructional Curriculum video series and companion book, both developed by Carrillo. This comprehensive, culturally rooted resource will offer students, educators, and percussionists of all levels an accessible way to learn and preserve traditional Afro–Puerto Rican rhythms and techniques.

Your support helps cover studio costs, musicians, mixing, mastering, and outreach—while connecting you directly to the music and its legacy. Let’s bring this project to life, together.
